With a long-term career in oceanography, geochemistry and data modelling, Oleg has been a well-established member of the Baltic Sea scientific community. He was a true pioneer in Baltic Sea modelling with contributions leading up to the founding of Baltic Nest Institute and the Baltic Sea Action Plan nutrient reduction scheme – components that are fundamental scientific bases for sustainable management of the Baltic Sea.
He was a relentless worker and besides all his numerous achievements in Baltic Sea science, we will remember him as kind person who was always fully engaged in his co-workers.
Oleg will be greatly missed by us at the Baltic Sea Centre. Our deepest condolences and warmest thoughts go to his family and loved ones.
