Carbon Dioxide Removal – A Last Chance for Humanity?
by Alasdair Skelton
In this seminar, Alasdair Skelton will explain the principles of carbon dioxide removal for a general audience, and reflect on the role of carbon dioxide removal as a contributary climate change solution. He will then focus specifically on carbon dioxide mineralisation as a mechanism from removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. He will reflect on ongoing efforts to store carbon dioxide in volcanic rocks on Iceland, as well as the search for other suitable rocks for carbon dioxide storage – a focal area for geological research both here, at the Department of Geological Sciences, and at Luleå Technical University.
