In this seminar, we are joined by Eirini Akavalou, who will talk about different aspects of language portraying.

In this seminar, Eirini Akavalou shows and discusses aspects of language portraying based on her linguistic ethnographic fieldwork among recently arrived children of Greek-Albanian background in the Swedish middle school, grades 4–6. A focus will be on doing language portraying longitudinally.

Eirini Akavalou is a PhD student in Language Education at the Department of Teaching and Learning, SU.

The group´s focus centers around research on minoritized multilingualism in a majority language context, and in what ways children, young people and adults are given the opportunity to use and develop both minoritized languages and the majority language.
