Career fair for mathematics and physics 2024

Event

Date: Wednesday 7 February 2024

Time: 09.00 – 15.00

Location: Albano building 2

The yearly career fair of the Mathematics-Physics Section gives you who are studying mathematics, physics or related subjects a chance to find out more about career options, and to connect with potential future employers. The career fair of 2024 will take place in Albano on 7 February.

This year's career fair takes place in Albano on Wednesday 7 February, 9:00-15:00. From 9:30 there will be a number of short lectures, mainly by alumni of ours (some of these are in Swedish and some in English, see details in the programme), and outside the lecture hall there are exhibitors from agencies and companies that employ people with an education in mathematics, physics or related subjects.

The programme and a list of exhibitors will be added soon.

Which subjects are part of the career fair?

This year the entire Mathematics-Physics Section is taking part in the career fair, so that's the departments of Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy and Meteorology. So it is particularly relevant for students in mathematics, mathematical statistics, computer science, physics, medical physics, astronomy and meteorology, but others are also welcome!

Please note that there is another career fair on the same day, for the rest of the Faculty of Science. This takes place in Aula Magna, and only in the afternoon. So these are two separate events.

Career Fair Warm-up: webinar

Learn more about a career in the realms of physics and mathematics. As a warm-up the week before the career fair we invite you to take part in a lunch-time webinar, at 12:15-13:00 on Wednesday 31 January.

Exhibitors

The exhibit will be on floor 2 of building 2 in Albano, outside auditorium 5.

Most exhibitors will be there all day, so do please go and speak to them at other times than the specific breaks for the purpose. You don't have to go to all the talks, so choose those that are relevant for you and go back to the exhibit in between.

The following exhibitors are taking part in the career fair: Aktuarieföreningen (Swedish actuarial association), FRA National Defence Radio Establishment, Ericsson, Savantic, Naturvetarna (trade union), SAS-Institute, the Swedish Armed Forces, Vitec Energy, Qsearch, Trygg Hansa, FOI Swedish Defence Research Agency, Folksam, Orexplore Technologies.

We will also have exhibitors from Stockholm University that you can talk to about further studies: the study advisors from the Department for Teaching and Learning who can tell you about KPU (Bridging Teacher Education Programme), and study advisors and PhD students from the Mathematics-Physics Section whom you can talk to about master's programmes and PhD studies in our subjects.

Premises

This year's career fair will take place in Stockholm University's new campus Albano, which is about fifteen minutes' walk from the metro stations Tekniska högskolan or Universitetet, and just by the bus stop Albano. Both the exhibit and lectures will be in building 2, which is the one in the middle. If you are coming from Roslagsvägen, go in through the entrance next to the base of the big staircase to the left of building 2 and you'll get right to the exhibit space.
