How you apply - check this information
You apply during the application period
As long as you apply within the application period your application will be considered. That means you have the whole period to apply, make adjustments etc until the last date.
Log in as program student
Always apply to courses in Media and Communication Studies and courses with guaranteed admission for your program (HMKGM) as Logged in Program Student via webbpage: universityadmission.se (antagning.se). Our courses in Media and Communication Studies have the pre fix "MK" before a four digit number such as "MK7134"
Check eligibility, langauge, level and Period
When you apply to courses, make sure you check you meet the eligibility. If you don't speak/read Swedish make sure language of instruction is in English. To make sure you don't get conflicting scheduels - and over 100% work load - make sure you don't have courses the same period. Check with our Student Counselor if you are not sure.
Prioritize
Put the Media and Communication Studies courses MA-level priority 1 and 2 (highest up)
Minimum 4 course to cover 30 credits
You will be admitted with guaranteed admission as a program student to our Media and Communication Studies Courses MA-level BUT there is a risk you will not be admitted to your first choice for the elective courses - so apply to extra courses to be on the safe side and get a full Spring semester of 30 credits.
Apply outside of Stockholm University?
You may choose courses from other universities, even abroad. If so, do check with us also to be on the safe side the courses can be included in your Master's Degree. Most will be OK.
Transfer of Credits/Use older courses?
If you have previous courses that is not included in your Bachelor Degree, you may consider use the in your Master's Programme. Talk to our student counselor about this.

How this program is constructed - a friendly reminder
This program is primarily in the subject Media and Communication Studies.
You will end up with 120 ects when finished.
After the first semester (Fall) you will have to make choices and apply to courses.
In the end you will end up with minimum:
- 7 courses of 7,5 credits at MA level in Media and Communication Studies = 52,5 credits
- 3 courses of 7,5 credits optional subject (may be at BA level) = 22,5 credits
- 2 x courses of 7,5 credits mandatory faculty courses = 15 credits
- 1 course of 30 credits Master's Thesis = 30 credits
- Total = 120 credits
