Here you can find practical information that you need before and at the beginning of the semester as a new student at our department.
Important information to new students
Thank you for choosing Stockholm University! In order to ensure that your studies begin as smoothly as possible we have compiled a short checklist for the beginning of term.
Checklist for a smooth start
Activate your university account and make an online registration
Before your studies begin you need to activate your university account and make an online registration for your courses.
Activation of university account
Once you have activated your account you will be able to registrer for your courses, as well as order your university card and get access to the library resources, printing and scanning.
At our department you make an online registration in Ladok which you can access with your university account.
Athena and Ladok for students
When you have registred for your course/courses you will have access to Athena which is a web-based learning and collaboration platform for courses at Stockholm University. In Athena you will find detailed information about your course such as lecture planning, literature lists, exams and schedule changes.
You can also use Athena through a mobile app available for both iOS and Android. We recommend downloading the app to your smartphone for quick access to schedule changes and other course updates. Please note that the app is called "itslearning".
In Ladok for students you will find record of current and completed education. You can also registrer for exams in Ladok.
Schedule
As a registred student you can easily see your course(s) schedule by login with your university account. Please note that the schedule is preliminary and is subject to change. When you are logged in, click on "My assembled schedule".

If you are a not yet registered student (or if you have problems logging in) you can access the schedule by searching for the course in TimeEdit.

Application for credits transfer
We accept applications for credit transfer for studies at a university abroad through Ladok
Use your university account and log into Ladok and go to the page for "Apply for" and then choose "Crediting" and follow the instructions.

Below, you will find information about credit transfer of studies from a university abroad for students who have been admitted to, or completed, a course or programme at Stockholm University.
Student office
At the Student Office you can register for courses (in cases where you can't register online), get study certificates and obtain help with other administrative matters concerning your studies. Here you will also find timetables, course programs and reading lists for all the Department’s courses as well as information about the Department’s activities in general.
If you run into any troubles when registering for a course online, or if you need to re-register you can always contact the Student office.

Student Counselor and Directors of Studies
The Student Counselor and the Directors of Studies will help you choose the right course, plan and carry out your studies, count and register your credits, take a break in your studies, get special support and provide information about the labour market.
