This course provides an overview of core themes in gender economics, focusing on the origins of gender disparities and the evaluation of policies aimed at reducing inequality. The course is optional in the PhD programme in Economics, given at Stockholm University.

Course description
This course provides an overview of core themes in gender economics, focusing on the origins of gender disparities and the evaluation of policies aimed at reducing inequality. Lectures will involve instructor presentations and student activities.
Examination
Students have the options of writing a term paper or completing three referee reports. The term paper should resemble a research proposal or pre-analysis plan, outlining the significance of the research question, relevant literature, testable hypotheses, and proposed methods. Term papers will be presented and discussed at a final workshop. Students opting for referee reports will present one of these reports instead. Grading will be based on the termpaper or referee reports, as well as on written answers to study questions submitted throughout the course.
