Xolisa Guzula is a Linguistic ethnographer with a long history of engaged work with communities and literacy clubs for children in South Africa. She will talk about her experiences from this work.

Xolisa Guzula is one of the founders of a network of community literacy clubs emerging across South Africa and researches children's translanguaging and multi-literacies practice. She has experience in early literacy and biliteracy teacher training and community literacy training. She is a storyteller, author and translator of children's literature and develops bilingual teacher professional materials.
As an early literacy specialist her research interests encompasses biliteracy development; emergent literacy; bi/multilingual education; language and literacy as social practice; multi-literacies; multi-modality; third spaces and bilingual children’s literature.
