Research Panel for Comparative Commercial Law at Stockholm Centre for Commercial Law (SCCL), Stockholm University, welcomes to the postgraduate Workshop on The Challenges of Comparative Law.
This postgraduate workshop is for PhD researchers working on dissertations with a comparative angle. The workshop aims at providing a friendly arena where doctoral students can discuss the challenges that they face in applying comparative methodology. It is open to doctoral candidates whose dissertations contain some comparative dimension, although it does not need to be the central point of the research.
The spirit of the initiative is to have an open discussion about methodological problems in a very hands-on fashion. The participants will therefore not present a paper in the traditional sense, but are simply required to summarize how they are using comparative law in their research and describe possible difficulties and challenges. Senior comparative law scholars such as Aurelia Colombi Ciacchi (University of Groningen), Johan Sandstedt (Stockholm University), Filippo Valguarnera (Uppsala University) and Kelly Chen (Södertörn University) will lead the discussion.
Please, register by sending an email to filippo.valguarnera@jur.uu.se. Attach a short description of your project and its comparative dimension (max 1 A4).
The workshop precedes the 30th General Meeting of the Common Core of European Private Law, which is organized by the Faculty of Law and the Research Panel for Comparative Commercial Law at SCCL, Stockholm University. The participants of the postgraduate conference are welcome to attend the General Meeting, which will take place on 15–16 May 2025 in Stockholm.
