Scholar from Bonn joins SCCL

The Stockholm Centre for Commercial Law (SCCL) is pleased to welcome Dominik Zilsdorf as its first visiting junior scholar from the University of Bonn. His research stay runs from 15 March to 11 June 2025 and focuses on comparative arbitration law.

The Stockholm Centre for Commercial Law is very proud to have its first visiting junior scholar from the University of Bonn, Dominik Zilsdorf. Dominik is a doctoral research student under Prof. Dr. Moritz Brinkmann, LL.M. (McGill) at the Institute of German and International Civil Procedure Law. His dissertation focuses on the third-party binding effect of arbitration agreements. 

By analysing the current approach in Germany, Dominik systematizes the German jurisprudence with the objective of facilitating the determination of whether a third party is bound by an arbitration agreement.

Legal Training and Professional Experience

Dominik received his law degree from the University of Bonn, has been a student assistant at the Institute of Private International and Comparative Law, a research assistant in the Disputes Resolution team of a mid-sized Cologne-based law firm, and is a member of the DIS40, the Moot Alumni Association and the Bonn Moot Association. 

Dominik will be at the SCCL from 15 March - 11 June 2025. During his stay at the SCCL, Dominik will be doing research on the arbitration agreement's third-party binding effect in Swedish arbitration law, comparing it to the German approach.

Stockholm Centre for Commercial Law (SCCL) is under superintendence of the Area Board of Humanities and Social Sciences at Stockholm University. SCCL was inaugurated with inspiration from the Centre for Commercial Law Studies at Queen Mary, University of London. Today around 25 researchers, focusing on Commercial Law, are affiliated to SCCL, which makes SCCL to the leading research centre in Commercial Law in the Nordic region.
