Stockholm University ranked first in Sweden within law in Shanghai ranking
Stockholm University has secured the top position in Sweden across seven academic disciplines, according to the 2024 ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, announced in November. Among these disciplines is Law, further solidifying the university's reputation for excellence in legal research and education.
The rankings are based on scientific articles indexed in databases such as Web of Science and InCites from the period 2019–2023, along with a range of academic indicators, including research citations and international collaboration.
Stockholm University holds the top position in Sweden in the following subjects: Atmospheric Science, Earth Sciences, Economics, Environmental Science & Engineering, Law, and Sociology. In Chemistry, the university shares the first place with KTH Royal Institute of Technology.

ShanghaiRanking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) evaluates universities across 55 disciplines within Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, and Social Sciences. This year, more than 1,900 universities from 96 countries and regions were included in the rankings.
