See guide for recycling here

Recycling

  • Goal: Improve the waste sorting.
  • Random checks will be performed to ensure that the waste is sorted correctly

Responsible: The Environmental Working Group
Completion date: 2024-12-31
Follow-up: January 2025
Indicators: The Environmental Working Group subjective assesment of how it works.

Purchases

  • Goal: More environmentally friendly food for meetings and conferences
  • “Choose local rather than imported products”, “choose vegetarian options rather than meat” and "there should always be a vegan option".
  • Informed about the recommendation via email. Say that all purchases must be done from procured suppliers.

Responsible: Sæmundur Grettisson, Erik Carlsson
Completion date: 2024-12-31
Follow-up: January 2024
Indicators: Information transmitted to relevant parties

Travel

  • Goal: Reduce the Department's emissions generated by business trip by 25% of emissions for 2019.
  • Remind about our travel policy in connection with major conferences, for example the conference in Hamburg in the spring of 2024.
  • Encourage train travel when this is possible.

  • Produce comparative travel statistics for our institution with other similar institutions and present the results to employees.

  • Discuss air travel with environmental representatives at other similar institutions and find good examples.

Responsible: Sæmundur Grettisson, Erik Carlsson
Completion date: 2024-12-31
Follow-up: January 2025
Indicator: Percentage of reduced emissions of carbon dioxide.
Resources: The climate tool & Qlike sense

IT/Energy

  • Reduce the energy consumption from computers and other IT products.
  • Inform via email about the advantages to the environment of using VPN instead of remote desktop.
  • Monitor the percentage of employees using remote desks. Find a simple solution to get statistics on this.

Responsible: Sæmundur Grettisson
Completion date: 2024-12-31
Follow-up: January 2025
Indicator: The indicator "energy use kWh for the institution" is not currently available. The climate tool data for this is currently aggregated and does not reflect the institution's own emissions, but a standardised figure. Measure of how many employees use remote desktops and have their work computer running 24/7.

The action plan was issued by Min Za Sandin and approved by the Department of Sociology 2023-11-28
