Bachelor's programmes
The first two years of the bachelor programme, held in Swedish, introduces you to the breadth of chemistry as a subject. In the third year you specialise in your field of interest and complete a diploma project.
PhD Programmes
Doctoral programme areas: Inorganic Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and Analytical Chemistry. The 4-year programmes include both coursework and independent research.
Freestanding courses
The chemistry departments give a number of freestanding courses at the advanced level that are also suitable for PhD students.
Lennart Bergström, Professor of Materials Chemistry at Stockholm University, has been awarded the prestigious Staudinger-Durrer 2025 Prize by ETH Zurich.
From 1st January 2025, the Department of Materials and Environmental Chemistry and the Department of Organic Chemistry will merge their strengths to form a new department – Department of Chemistry. Niklas Hedin will become the head of the department, and Belen Martín-Matute will serve as vice head.
