The course "Alcohol- and drug research from a social science perspective" (PH005F1) will provide knowledge of alcohol- and drug research from a social science perspective.

Course content
The purpose of the course is to provide knowledge of alcohol- and drug research from a social science perspective.
The course includes three themes:
- The first theme focuses on epidemiological research regarding consumption, health consequences and determinants.
- The second theme focuses on policy, i.e. regulation, prevention and treatment from international to local contexts. Relevant theories such as the total consumption model and the prevention paradox are also presented.
- The third theme focuses on presenting current research topics in the social science-based alcohol- and drug research such as drug policy, alcohol and Covid-19, youth drinking, and harm to others.
