The Scientific Method, 1,5 credits

The Scientific Method (1,5 credits) is a mandatory course for obtaining the Bachelor of Science degree at the Faculty of Science at Stockholm University.

The course is part of a general academic education and is not specific to any particular subject or project. It is given by the Department of Culture and Aesthetics. It will be given three times during 2025: 11–14 March (English version), 2–5 September (English version), and in November (Swedish version, specific dates not yet decided).

The course gives a brief introduction to the History and Philosophy of Science and to the Scientific Method. The course comprises 5 sessions, each held from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on a weekday. The sessions are a combination of lectures and experiments. Attendance is obligatory. The course is graded pass/fail.

Registration for the course instance Autumn Semester 2025 is open 1 May – 10 August.
