Language Education - Theory and Application (US025DO) 7.5 ECTS credits

This course examines and critically engages with theories and research findings in language education, alongside pedagogical applications of language education research. The focus is on the teaching and learning of foreign languages, as well as teachers’ and students’ thoughts and attitudes on these topics.

Issues in Language Teaching and Learning (US022DO) 7.5 ECTS credits

The course explores key issues and debated research in language learning and their impact on teaching. It examines current studies on how we learn and teach first, second, and foreign languages, and discusses how controversial topics influence teaching methods. Policy documents from different language teaching contexts are analyzed and compared in light of recent research.

Third language research and language education (US024DO) 7.5 ECTS credits

The course adresses third language research and its impact on teaching a third language. It discusses key theories and selected empirical studies on languages learned after one or more previous languages. The focus is on factors influencing the learning, development, and use of a third language, such as age, multilingualism, and contextual factors.
