SULaw's Summer Programme
As a law student from one of our partner universities, you have the possibility of attending SULaw's Summer Programme. The programme takes place fully on campus. So take the opportunity to study with fellow students from around the world in courses taught by top researchers in beautiful Stockholm!
Our Summer Programme usually starts at the end of June/early July and streches over six weeks divided into three sessions of two weeks. Students can choose to attend one, two or all three sessions, and to study law courses at both basic or advanced level.
Nomination
In order to be admitted to SULaw's Summer Programme, you must be officially nominated by one of our partner universities. Begin by checking that your home university is among our partners, using the link below. If they are, contact them directly to learn more about how you should proceed. Please note that our Summer Programme is not open to free movers.
The deadline for nominations for the summer 2024 is 27 March 2024.
Academic requirements
All our summer courses are undergraduate courses at either basic and advanced levels. To enrol in a course at basic level, students are expected to have completed at least 60 ECTS (i.e. one full year of studies) in law prior to the programme. For courses at advanced level, we recommend that students have completed at least 120 ECTS (i.e. two full years of studies) in law.
Language requirements
Since English is the language of instruction in all our summer courses, students are expected to have sufficient knowledge of English prior to the programme. We recommend that non-native speakers have a level of at least B2-C1. Please note that we do not require to see any transcript of records and/or language tests. It is your home university that will make sure that you fulfill these requirements before they nominate you to us.
Application
After receiving the official nomination from your home university, we will contact you by e-mail with further information regarding the application procedure, as well as the payment of the fee. You will apply online and will receive your Letter of Acceptance by e-mail.

Dates, Costs and Housing
The 2024 edition of the summer programme is set up as follows :
- First session: 24 June - 5 July 2024
- Second session: 8 July - 19 July 2024
- Third session: 22 July - 2 August 2024
Cost
The cost of the summer programme 2024 is as follows:
- 1 session = SEK 6 500
- 2 sessions = SEK 11 500
- 3 sessions = SEK 16 500
Please note that the price above does not include housing; see more information below.
The programme is tuition free. The fees charged are related to costs for the social programme and taxes. More specifically, the following is included in the fees:
- Wireless internet on campus
- Welcome breakfast and farewell dinner
- Public Transportation card for the period of stay
- Social and cultural events
- Company visits
- Insurance
- Administrative fee and VAT
NOTE! Food not listed above is not included in the fee.
Housing
In their application to our summer programme 2024, students will be able to indicate whether they wish to book accommodation through SULaw or find accommodation on their own. Student accommodation through SULaw will be located in Albano, the university’s newest housing area which is conveniently located close to our campus. The price will be 5000 SEK per two-week session. Student who wish to look for accommodation on their own will be provided with a list of housing suggestions.
The total cost of the programme per session if a student chooses to book accommodation through SULaw is therefore as follows:
- one session with housing at Albano = SEK 6500 + 5000 = SEK 11 500
- two sessions with housing at Albano = SEK 11 500 + 2x5000 = SEK 21 500
- three sessions with housing at Albano = SEK 16 500 + 3x5000 = SEK 31 500
Students who choose to book accommodation through SULaw will check in their studios on the Sunday before each session starts between 15.00 and 18.00. The checkout and handing back of keys will be on the last Saturday of each session, between 11.00 and 12.00.
Courses
Each law course within the Summer Programme is worth 3,5 ECTS (fulltime studies), with a focus on international law. The schedules for the courses are designed to enable the students to participate in two courses in a two-week period, which most students choose to do.
There is a written examination in each course, either in the form of a "take-home" exam or a sit-in exam. Please know that the deadline for a take-home exam may be after the last day of the course. The grading scale used is Pass/Fail and each student will be able to download an offical Transcript of Records after the completion of the programme.

- World Trade Law (advanced)

Social Programme
To help you make the most of your visit to Sweden, and because summer should not only be about studying, we also organise social and cultural activities as part of our summer programme. Come and discover Stockholm with us! You will get to experience Swedish culture through, among others, visits to local landmarks (e.g. the Stockholm City Hall) and excursions to places of natural beauty (e.g. Skinnarviksberget or Djurgården). You will also get an insight into the Swedish business world thanks to company visits. A welcome breakfast and farewell dinner are also organised in each session of two weeks. The coordinators from SULaw will socialize with you during these activites, but you will still have plenty of time to discover Stockholm on your own or with your fellow summer students!
Visa and insurance
Visa
Students from outside EU/EEA normally need to apply for a visa to study in Sweden. Information about countries whose citizens need a visa to enter sweden can be found on the website of the Swedish Migration Agency:

If you are student from a university outside the European Union and need a hard copy of your Letter of Acceptance for visa or residency purposes, SULaw can provide you with one.
