Conversion Programme for International Lawyers
Stockholm University offers two tracks to become a practicing lawyer in Sweden. The most common track takes 4,5 years, while the other takes 2 years but is reserved for students who already hold a foreign law degree. Both require students to be fluent in Swedish.

Juristprogrammet
The standard law education in Sweden is a 4,5 year programme, or Study Programme in Law (Juristprogrammet), leading to the Swedish Master of Laws Degree (Juris kandidatexamen). It is the standard law degree in Sweden, required for professions such as that of a judge, attorney at law and prosecutor. This programme is only offered in Swedish.

Conversion Programme
People who already hold a foreign law degree can also choose our 2-year fulltime Conversion Programme for Foreign Lawyers (Kompletteringsutbildning för utländska jurister), which was started as part of a governmental integration project. This programme also leads to the Swedish Master of Laws Degree (Juris kandidatexamen).
Please note that admission to the Conversion Programme also requires fluency in Swedish.
